Why do you think they can settle in a horror setting if they’re under 18?: Hinami is from a psychological horror series with cannibalism being the main theme. Hinami, being a ghoul, comes with a severe diet and can only digest human flesh to survive. Plus, ghouls are also hunted down by the CCG - a Federal agency that specializes in the tracking and extermination of ghouls, and she's their target.
Hinami had already been through a traumatic event, both her father and mother were executed by Ghoul Investigator (the latter she witnessed with her own eyes), but she was able to gradually coped with the death of her parents and be cheerful again.
Canon Abilities/Powers:
Ghoul: Hinami is a ghoul, a species that looks similar to a human with few key differences: Mainly, that they can only consume human flesh, coffee, and water. They also have extra organs called a kakuhou and kagune. She's physically stronger, resilient, and has strong reflexes than a regular human. Though, she's still susceptible to getting damage if enough force is used. She's able to regenerate damaged organs and tissue with her kakuhou and, along with activating her kagune as a weapon.
Heightened senses: Hinami has better hearing and a sensitive nose and sense of smell than an average ghoul. She's able to tell individual apart by hearing and scent alone.
Koukaku and Rinkaku: Hinami is special in that she possesses two kagune; Koukaku(which is situated below the shoulder blade) and Rinkaku(which is situated at the back around the waist). A Koukaku kagune is used as defence due to its sturdiness. A Rinkaku kagune excels in brute strength and takes on the appearance of a scaled tentacle. What is their greatest negative emotion towards an object, situation, or person in their past?:
As of this canon point, it would be her sadness towards her parent's death. Both her father and mother were killed by the CCG, a federal agency specializing in exterminating and tracking ghouls, and the latter she witnessed executed with her own eyes. She was orphaned and the loss of her mother's life had especially impacted her life. Hinami confined herself in sorrow for days and the event had left her questioning whether it was okay or not for her to live. Which just further her complex about being seen as a "monster", something that makes her afraid about opening up herself to others initially.
How strongly do they feel about the negative subject matter, on the scale of one to ten?:
About a 6? The subject of her parent is still sore but Hinami was able to cope with their deaths over time, though not without support from the people surrounding her, especially her surrogate siblings, Kaneki and Touka. Since then, Hinami decided to live on in respect to her mother's wishes and moved beyond that sadness. Although both her father and mother were taken by ghoul investigators, Hinami doesn't harbor much, if any, hatred towards them, despite loving her parents so much. She's a kind person at heart who dislikes violence and killing. When she had the chance to avenge her mother and father, she chose to not act on it. As she plainly stated, she doesn't want revenge- she is just sad and wanted to see her mother and father.
What is their greatest virtue?:
Hinami's greatest virtue is her empathy. She cares a lot about Touka Kirishima and Ken Kaneki, respectively her "big sister" and "big brother" in her eyes. Kaneki especially is someone she wants to see happy and smiling because she realizes how isolated he feels- something of which she can relate to and no one, regardless of species, should feel that way.
Despite needing to eat humans, she is very reluctant to kill anyone and doesn't like to see others in pain. An example; when she finds an injured bird on Touka's balcony, thinking it's dead, she was relieved to see that it shows a sign of life, to a point that she bursts into tears. This was at a low point after being orphanized and is what made her realize that there are others out there hurting and abandoned like her and they need someone to care for them.
How aware are they of their virtue, on a scale from one to ten?:
Eight. Safe to say as she's aware she herself is a pacifistic ghoul and always made the conscious choice to never want to harm or kill a person.
