⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Hinami Fueguchi
Age: 14
Canon: Tokyo Ghoul
Canon Point: Chapter 31

Background: Wiki Link

Personality:

At first glance, Hinami is just like every ordinary little girl her age. She's kind, soft-spoken, gentle, and shy. She likes books, flowers, animals, and loves her family. Though, there is one huge difference that separates her from every other girl. And it isn't the good sort of different too. She's a ghoul. A cannibalistic species that can only digest human flesh (or one another). Aside from coffee and water, ghouls aren't able to digest normal food making their diet severely limited. Which is... obviously something major that can't be easily overlooked once found out.

The life of a ghoul isn't an easy one, especially for a child like Hinami. It's a constant struggle for survival. Not only do they have to act "human" to fit in with the human society to hide their true identity and pretend to eat normal food without becoming physically ill and control their predatory urges. They also have to stay alert and avoid both violent ghouls and CCG investigators who hunt down ghouls. The CCG(Commission of Counter Ghoul) being a federal agency that specializes in tracking and exterminating ghouls. Unfortunately for Hinami, her family have been targeted by them despite the fact that her family is the non-violent and peaceful kind of ghouls.

Thus, Hinami lived an isolated life, with her interactions are only limited to her mother and the people of Anteiku.

She has no friends to talk or play with- and combine her limited interaction with the outside world -she spends most of her time sheltered and reading books. This sort of lonely lifestyle is one that she doesn't particularly like, but it can't be denied that it is a peaceful one. Despite having a huge passion for learning, she doesn't go to school because it would be too risky for her to, especially when her family are being targeted by the CCG. She is instead homeschooled and learned from reading books with Kaneki teaching her to read kanji later on.

Hinami is a shy kid and somewhat distant at first. When she first appears onscreen, she hides behind her mother when being greeted by Kaneki and doesn't return the greeting. Instead, she averts her eyes away from him not before looking up to him with clear distrust on her eyes. The distrust doesn't come from her shy nature, it's stems off from her complexity of being seen as a monster to the world. This complexity leaves her wary and afraid of opening up to others and her shy nature doesn't help her either in this regard. Though once she finally opens up (which doesn't take much to if one is kind enough towards her), she changed into an entirely different person. Her personality turns to one of a very lively person and can be quite chatty as well. She's also kindhearted and incredibly empathetic. When she finds an injured bird on the veranda of Touka's apartment, she burst into tears when it shows a sign of life and later made the decision to take care the bird until it healed. Her one greatest trait- or flaw, depending on how one look at it -is her pacifism. After she encountered her parent's killer and wounded him, she couldn't bring herself to kill someone, despite loving her mother and father so much. She said so herself that she doesn't want revenge or to kill him- she just felt sad. Though her encounter with the CCG investigators and her mother's death leaves her to question whether it's okay for her to live, which furthers her complexity of being seen as a monster. Though, she's gradually getting better. She coped with the death of her parents well and gain a much more cheerful attitude afterwards.

One of the most important thing to Hinami is her relationship she made with others. Aside from her mother and father, the two most important person to her is Touka Kirishima and Ken Kaneki. In her eyes, she sees Touka and Kaneki as her big sister and big brother respectively and cares for them deeply. After the tragedy, she begins to live with Touka, who take care of Hinami and keeps an eye on her to ensure her safety. One other relationship that's important to Hinami is with Kaneki. Although she was initially wary of him, she quickly found herself befriending and cares for him. He shares her passion for reading- even liking the same author as she does -and offers to teach her new words/kanji which excites her to no end and eagerly writes down new words he teaches on her notebook. She's been hanging around with Kaneki more because she notices how lonely Kaneki is and that's something she can relate to. Kaneki and Touka are both someone she wants to see happy and smile together. She will do whatever she can to make that happen.

In the end of the day, her diet aside, Hinami isn't any different than any girls her age. She's innocent, shy, genuinely sweet and innocent kid, and above all, kind. She's always eager to study and read books whenever she can to be more educated. While she is capable of fighting on her own, she only does so as a last resort when her life is on the line. Though she may have lost both her parents, she will continue living on for the sake of those close to her.

Abilities:

Ghoul: Hinami is a ghoul, a species that looks similar to a human with few key differences: Mainly, that they can only consume human flesh, coffee, and water. They also have extra organs called a kakuhou and kagune. She's physically stronger, resilient, and has strong reflexes than a regular human. Though, she's still susceptible to getting damage if enough force is used. She's able to regenerate damaged organs and tissue with her kakuhou and, along with activating her kagune as a weapon.

Heightened senses: Hinami has better hearing and a sensitive nose and sense of smell than an average ghoul. She's able to tell individual apart by hearing and scent alone.

Koukaku and Rinkaku: Hinami is special in that she possesses two kagune; Koukaku(which is situated below the shoulder blade) and Rinkaku(which is situated at the back around the waist). A Koukaku kagune is used as defence due to its sturdiness. A Rinkaku kagune excels in brute strength and takes on the appearance of a scaled tentacle. Hinami is showed to be able to use her dual kagune effective enough to protect herself from any threats. Visual of Hinami's kagune

Alignment: Aiada. Being a child that is isolated to the outside world and have little to no interaction with anyone outside her parents due to her status, the people Hinami befriends and interacts with are essentially vital to her. So every little interaction she has and friendship she made, she treasures and appreciates them dearly.

Other: Opt-out post here. Any and all mention of cannibalism will be avoided by default. Unless I've been given explicit permission for PCs, she won't be eating PCs or NPCs left and right nor will she ever harm anyone as it is not in her nature to do so. Instead, she'll try to sneak into a morgue or a graveyard and do you-know-what, or at least attempt to, anyway. If there ever comes a time for it, I'm totally down for IC consequences.
